چکیده

Chromatographic techniques have been developed and successfully applied for the analysis of a considerable of number of organic and inorganic compounds present at trace level in sometimes complicated accompanying matrices. The rapid development of new chromatographic instrumentation and separation strategies resulted in the increase of the number of chromatographic technologies with higher separation capacity. Because of their considerable importance in human health care a high number of synthetic and natural compounds were investigated for possible anticancer activity. The different character of synthetic and natural products made necessary the separated discussion of the chromatographic techniques apployed for the investigation.

Application of ozone gas for decontamination of nucleoside anticancer drugs

BACKGROUND Exposure to anticancer drugs is hazardous and may lead to chromosomal abnormalities and spontaneous abortion in healthcare workers. Guidelines recommend surface decontamination and cleaning in order to minimize the occupational exposure to anticancer drugs, although no single process has been found to deactivate all currently available hazardous drugs. Ozone gas is oxidative and a de...

Molecular dynamics simulation and docking studies on the binding properties of several anticancer drugs to human serum albumin

Disposition and transportation of anticancer drugs by human serum albumin (HSA) affects their bioavailability, distribution and elimination. In this study, the interaction of a set of anticancer drugs with HSA was investigated by molecular dynamics and molecular docking simulations. The drugs' activities were analyzed according to their docking scores, binding sites and structural descriptors. ...

Studies on mechanism of action of anticancer peptides by modulation of hydrophobicity within a defined structural framework.

In the present study, the hydrophobicity of a 26-residue α-helical peptide (peptide P) was altered to study the effects of peptide hydrophobicity on the mechanism of action of cationic anticancer peptides. Hydrophobicity of the nonpolar face of the peptides was shown to correlate with peptide helicity. The self-association ability of peptides in aqueous environment, determined by the reversed-p...

Effectiveness of activated carbon masks in preventing anticancer drug inhalation

BACKGROUND The exposure of healthcare workers to anticancer drugs such as cyclophosphamide (CPA) is a serious health concern. Anticancer drug pollution may spread outside biological safety cabinets even when a closed system is used. The inhalation of vaporized anticancer drugs is thought to be the primary route of exposure. Therefore, it is important that healthcare workers wear masks to preven...
